A Quiet Day for Advent 2025
Saturday 29th November, 10am – 3.30pm, St Columba’s by the Castle, Johnston Terrace, Edinburgh

The coming of Christ in the world was heralded by a star, a pin-prick of light in a dark sky, so easy to miss. Sometimes, to catch the good news, we need to stop, stand still, look up and wonder. As Advent begins, this Quiet Day is an opportunity to pause amid the busyness of life and notice the small signs which invite us in to new possibilities. It’s a chance to revisit familiar stories, perhaps noticing new things, and spend time with those who wondered at the Wonders of God, large and small, which were revealed to them.
This retreat day is an invitation to pause, stand still and look, to notice the lights which might be revealed in our lives. The day will draw on a mix of reflective approaches and creative material including art, poetry and music, and will include guided reflections and individual quiet time. Lunch and other refreshments are provided.

The Quiet Day is designed to stand alone or to be an ideal starting point for the series of online Advent Reflections, Rediscovering Wonder. Two volunteer places are available – take part for a donation, or for free, in return for a bit of assistance from time to time through the day. Please email for more information.
